Greetings! Thank you for taking time to consider joining our band family.

Main recruitment page can be found here.

The letter below contains lots of important information about band. The only piece of information not included was the band fee. Each band student is expected to pay a $30 band fee that covers their polo, t-shirt, and some other items, as well as helping us to have money in the general fund to operate the band effectively.

If you still have questions after reading this page, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to talking with you and hopefully having you in class!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?
Your child will need an instrument. The best option is to rent an instrument while your child is figuring out if this is something s/he wants to stick with. Call any one of these music companies for prices and information.
Gadsden Music – Decateur, Alabama –
(256) 546-9381 –https://www.gadsdenmusic.com/
Pete’s Music City – Calhoun, GA – 706-629-4463
There is also a $30 band fee, which covers the cost of the band t-shirts, method books, and other items deemed necessary.

What if I can’t afford a rental?
- The Ashworth Band and its Booster organization do their best to provide instruments for students that cannot afford to rent one. Due to a high number of students enrolled in band, school instruments are very, very limited.

What is the time commitment?
- Band class happens during the school day as a curricular subject. There could possibly be a few after-school rehearsals before a performance. There will also be required concerts – “A Day in the Life…” 6th-grade Concert, Christmas Concert (all grades), Performance Evaluation Concert (7th and 8th grade), and Spring Concert (all grades). Practice time at home is also very important and crucial for the growth of the individual student.
- Since band is a performance-based class, the Ashworth Band is one of Ashworth's most visible programs in the community. 7th & 8th Grade bands participate in Gordon Central's Homecoming Parade as well as the Chamber of Commerce's Christmas Parade of Lights. The band sometimes also plays pep music at Ashworth sporting events.
